Boet Zondag
BMus (Hons)
Boet Zondag is a Suzuki cello teacher and performer with over twelve years of experience playing the cello. His musical journey began in high school, where he quickly fell in love with the instrument and began taking private lessons. That passion grew into a lifelong pursuit that led him to study music at Wilfrid Laurier University, where he served as principal cellist of the university orchestra and performed in various chamber ensembles.
While developing his skills as a performer, Boet discovered his true calling: teaching and connecting with students through music. The Suzuki philosophy deeply resonated with him — the belief that every child can learn in a nurturing, joyful environment. After completing his degree, Boet began teaching privately in Stratford, sharing his enthusiasm for cello playing and helping students build confidence, creativity, and self-expression.
Known for his calm and patient approach, Boet believes in steady, achievable progress and in making music learning fun and meaningful. His goal is to spark each student’s love for the cello and to nurture that passion as it grows into a lifelong joy for music.
Teaching music is not my main purpose. I want to make good citizens. If children hear fine music from the day of their birth and learn to play it, they develop sensitivity, discipline and endurance. They get a beautiful heart. ― Shinichi Suzuki
