Ann Vera Vallentyne (nee Tracy)

December 28, 1927 – April 19, 2009

It is with great sadness, and a deep sense of loss that we announce that Ann V. Vallentyne, mother of HSSM violin instructor, Anne Marie Vallentyne-Stanley and grandmother of Tessa Vallentyne-Stanley, violin and piano student, passed away on Sunday, April 19.

Ann was a past Director and founding member of the HSSM and an inspiring cello teacher.

Those of you who were fortunate enough to know Ann, know that mere words cannot describe the enormous contribution she made to the HSSM. Not only was she a teacher, mentor, colleague and friend but her spirit was the very essence of the school.

Ann was interested in every aspect of the school and contributed generously to the Ann V. Vallentyne Scholarship on a yearly basis after her retirement from the HSSM. This scholarship continues to provide assistance to students attending summer institutes.

Ann was a remarkable yet humble woman no task was beneath her, no challenge too great. Ann will always have a special place in our hearts.
